Homemade mozzarella sticks are one of America’s favorite appetizers. Crispy on the outside and filled with perfectly melted cheese on the inside, they’re easy to make and perfect for parties, movie nights, or as a delicious snack. Serve them with warm marinara sauce for the ultimate cheesy bite.
Ingredients
12 mozzarella string cheese sticks
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 large eggs
2 tbsp milk
2 cups Italian-style breadcrumbs
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp Italian seasoning
Vegetable oil for frying
Marinara sauce for serving
Instructions
Cut each mozzarella stick in half.
Place the flour in one bowl. In a second bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk. In a third bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning.
Coat each mozzarella stick in flour, then dip it into the egg mixture, and finally coat it in the breadcrumb mixture. Repeat the egg and breadcrumb coating one more time for extra crispiness.
Freeze the coated mozzarella sticks for at least 1 hour. This prevents the cheese from leaking while frying.
Heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
Fry the mozzarella sticks in small batches for 1–2 minutes, until golden brown.
Drain on paper towels and serve immediately with warm marinara sauce
