Chicago Deep Dish Pizza is one of America’s most iconic comfort foods. It features a thick, buttery crust filled with layers of gooey mozzarella, savory pepperoni, rich tomato sauce, and Parmesan cheese. Every slice is packed with flavor and stretches with melted cheese.
Ingredients
Dough
3¼ cups all-purpose flour
1 cup warm water
2¼ tsp active dry yeast
2 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp butter, softened
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp salt
Filling
3 cups shredded mozzarella
30 slices pepperoni
2 cups pizza sauce
½ cup grated Parmesan
1 tsp Italian seasoning
Instructions
Mix the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let stand for 10 minutes until foamy.
Add the flour, salt, olive oil, and butter. Knead until smooth and elastic. Cover and let rise for about 1 hour.
Grease a deep round baking pan. Press the dough into the pan, bringing it up the sides.
Layer the mozzarella cheese first, then the pepperoni slices. Pour the pizza sauce evenly over the top, then sprinkle with Parmesan and Italian seasoning.
Bake at 425°F (220°C) for 30–35 minutes, until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling.
Allow the pizza to cool for 5 minutes before slicing.
